Nobody is defending their intelligence.
We've asked people across six cities what AI should never replace. Not one person said their intelligence. Not their memory, not their speed, not their knowledge. Every single answer was a faculty you can only build by being present with another human. They named empathy, laughter, human presence, emotion, what we make with our hands. People already know where they're irreplaceable. Then we ask them how well they know and love themselves, and the average is 7.5 out of 10.
That gap is the whole thesis. Researchers have tested, from how we process emotion to how we regulate our own attention and nervous system that these capacities respond to training the same way a muscle does. That's why developing them has to be our number one priority, ahead of chasing the next frontier model. And it's not a defensive move. The specific ground these faculties occupy like embodied judgment, emotional attunement, intuitive and contextual understanding is precisely where AI is structurally weakest. A human operating at full capacity in that territory is standing on ground AI can't take. That's humans in the strongest position they've been in since AI arrived because we finally know exactly what to develop in response to it. Activate that, and welcoming this intelligence becomes an advance for humanity instead of a slow surrender of it.
